Stainless steel fiber is used as an additive for refractory castables reinforcement. There are 2 types stainless steel fiber existed for this application. Cutting type is the traditional type by cutting stainless steel wire ad plate with special equipments. This type is still popular in most countries with expensive costs.
Melting and extruding type is originally from USA and widely produced and used in China since early 1990's. Its scraggy shape looks special, both ends are sharp and surface rough enough to agglutinate with castables. Chinese makers can well adjust the length, width, thickness and unit weight. The melting point of this type is very similar to cutting type. While the price is much more cheaper than cutting type. So, it was found cost effective by many refractory manufacturers from different countries.
In 2006, world output of stainless steel is increased by 14.2%. However, due to increasing nickel price, the rate of stainless steel in Asia is increased by USD150-300 per metric ton. This makes the originally high cost stainless steel fiber even higher. So, we think it is a good chance for some refractory manufacturers to consider melting & extruding type stainless steel fiber as substitute.
We started to export melting & extruding type stainless steel fiber from 1995 and accumulated rich experience in this product. We can keep stable supply, quality and price of this product. We welcome our old and new customers to seek more information from us by your keen interest.
